Meta-analysis of the effect of non-pharmaceutical intervention for family on preoperative anxiety of school-age children and their parents

Abstract
Objective To conduct a systematic review of the impact of non-pharmaceutical interventions on preoperative anxiety in school-aged children and their parents.The aim of this study is to provide evidence-based findings on non-pharmaceutical interventions,and to serve as a reference for future research and interventions targeting preoperative anxiety in school-aged children and their parents.Methods Computer searches were conducted on databases such as PubMed,Science Direct,Embase,SAGE,Cochrane Library,Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang Data,and VIP database to identify randomized controlled trials(RCTs)that investigated the impact of NPIF on preoperative anxiety levels of school-age children and their parents until March 1,2022.The inclusion criteria were adhered to during the screening process,and the Cochrane risk of bias assessment tool was employed to evaluate the quality of the literature.Rev Man 5.3 software was used to perform the Meta-analysis.Results A total of 16 RCTs involving 1 305 school-aged children and their parents were included.The Meta-analysis findings suggest that the application of NPIF reduced preoperative anxiety levels amongst children in the experimental group in comparison to the children in the control group[SMD=-1.04,95%CI(-1.32,-0.75),Z=7.14,P＜0.001].Additionally,the implementation of NPIF resulted in a lower anxiety reaction amongst parents in the experimental group compared to the parents in the control group[SMD=-0.58,95%CI(-1.12,-0.04),Z=2.11,P=0.04].Conclusions NPIF can effectively relieve preoperative anxiety of school-age children and their parents.关键词
