From single to multiple:research on the realistic needs of diverse career development for PhD students and educational support strategies
摘要
Abstract
The career development of PhD students from single to multiple is the product of social development. From the domestic and international realities, the diversification of PhD students'career development is due to the"push"of the imbalance between the supply and demand of elite academic positions and the stability of academic positions in the academic labor market,as well as the"pull"of the expanding demand for high-level talents in the non-academic labor market. However, because of the single career preference under the solidification of students'academic identities, the single educational support under the lagging concept of school training, and the mismatch between students'abilities and employers'expectations, majority of PhD students'career development is still confined to the academic positions.By analyzing the practice of the"PhD Education Initiative"of the Association of American Universities,we can draw on the successful experience of its pilot universities in providing educational support for the diversification of doctoral students'career development through conceptual updating, data transparency, institutional innovation, and resource integration.Based on the current situation in China,we propose educational support strategies in terms of broadening the cultivation objectives with"new orientation",opening job-seeking channels with"digitization",boosting personalized cultivation with"strong institutions",and promoting resource integration with"extensive cooperation".关键词
