Pollution Risk and Prediction of Livestock Manure on Farmland in Main Grain Producing Areas

Abstract

Livestock farming is currently one of the major emission sources of agricultural pollution.Organic pollutants such as nitrogen and phosphorus in livestock manure may cause soil pollution if livestock manure are not properly treated or in excess of the soils'self-purification capacity after being discharged.Based on the livestock farming data and farmland area data in China's main grain producing areas from 2011 to 2020,the production volume of livestock manure,pig manure equivalent,and farmland pollution load in each province in the main grain-producing areas were analyzed,and future forecasts were made.The results show that the total amount of pig manure equivalent in the main grain producing areas in 2020 decreased by 4%compared with 2011,and the province with the largest emission was Shandong.The average total nitrogen load of farmland was 134.84 kg/hm2,and the average total phosphorus load of farmland was 62.44 kg/hm2.Provinces with a higher risk of farmland load pollution were Shandong,Sichuan,and Hunan.It is expected that in the future,the breeding volume of pigs,cattle and sheep in the main grain producing areas will show a downward trend,and the breeding volume of poultry will show an upward trend.The risk level in Shandong is still level Ⅳ,and the pollution is relatively serious.The pollution level in Sichuan and Hunan is still level Ⅲ.Therefore,focus should be laid on strengthening the prevention and control of livestock manure pollution in Shandong,Sichuan and Hunan.
