Abstract

China is rich in bamboo forest resources.Bamboo has the characteristics of fast growth,high yield and excellent physico-mechanical properties,and also has great social,economic and ecological value as a renewable,green,low-carbon and degradable biomass material.Although bamboo industry has developed rapidly in recent years,the low automation degree of bamboo primary processing and the primary processed products as the main products in the downstream result in the idleness of a large number of bamboo resources.Bamboo strip is a commonly used primary processing unit,which occupies an important position in the bamboo processing industry chain.Its structural design,processing technique and processing efficiency and precision have a significant impact on the quality and cost control of high value-added deep processing products of bamboo,such as laminated bamboo timber.This paper introduces the relationship between micro structure and macro mechanical properties of bamboo,summarizes the development status of production technique and manufacturing equipment of bamboo strips,and points out the problems existing in the processing industry of bamboo strip.The development directions of bamboo strip industry are put forward,i.e.,improving the utilization rate of bamboo,improving equipment and supporting facilities,and expediting the research on fine and deep bamboo products.
