Data Literacy Education for Social Science Research:Experience and Revelation from Cornell University

摘要

Abstract

The change of scientific research paradigm has put forward new requirements for data literacy of social science researchers,and it is urgent to carry out targeted data literacy education.On the basis of clarifying relevant concepts and relationships,this paper uses network research and content analysis methods to comprehensively review the data literacy education implemented by Cornell University for social science research,investigate its educational structure,infrastructure and resource construction,educational content,and service strategy,and sum up its experience.According to the current situation of our country,this paper puts forward some suggestions for university libraries to carry out data literacy education for social science research.They should pay attention to the change of research paradigm and improve the awareness of data literacy training;promote multi-subject collaboration to build a reasonable and effective data literacy education system;accelerate the development of data infrastructure and practice sites;and integrate resources vigorously.This paper aims to improve the data literacy of social science researchers as soon as possible,adapt to the change of research paradigm,and help the development of social science.
