The Network Structure of the Dark Triad in Adolescents:An Exploration Based on Gaussian and Directed Acyclic Graphs

Abstract
Objective:Based on network psychometrics to explore the network structure of the dark triad of adolescents.Methods:The Dark Triad Dirty Dozen Scale was conducted on 4200 students from ten primary/middle schools.We em-ployed two complementary methods.Results:The results showed that all of the items formed a single network consisting of three dimensions.Machiavellianism and psychopathy were located in close proximity,and narcissism was placed on the edge of the network."I have used deceit or lied to get my way"and"I tend to exploit others toward my own end"were high-ly central in the network.The Bayesian network found that"I have used deceit or lied to get my way"was the driving point of Machiavellianism and the entire network.Conclusion:Although the concepts of Machiavellianism and psychopathy over-lap,they still belong to different constructs;Narcissism has particularity in dark triad;Both network computing approaches pointing to Machiavellianism play an important role in the dark triad network system.关键词
