摘要

Abstract

Objective:The present study aimed to explore the influence of college students'goal attainability on goal disengagement, and the mediating effect of goal desirability,as well as moderating effect of temporal distance. Methods:Study 1 investigated 1052 college students using goal attainability questionnaire, temporal distancing scale, goal desirabili-ty questionnaire and goal disengagement scale.Study 2 manipulated a distant-future perspective and a near near-future perspective on 229 college students, and tested the other variables using questionnaires.Results:(1)Goal desirability medi-ated the relationship between goal attainability and goal disengagement.(2)Temporal distance moderated the first half and direct path of the mediation model. For participants with higher temporal distance ability or adopting distant-future perspec-tive on their goals, goal attainability predicted goal desirability and goal disengagement more significantly. That is,partici-pants with both high temporal distance and low goal attainability exhibited significantly lower goal desirability and higher goal disengagement. Conclusion:Goal attainability can influence goal disengagement through goal desirability, and the above relationship is moderated by temporal distance.
