Relationships Between Grandparental Involvement and Meaning in Life:The Multiple Mediating Roles of Relatedness and Reproduction-immortality Needs Satisfaction

Abstract
Objective:This study intended to further explain the relationship between grandparental involvement and meaning in life by introducing the satisfaction of relatedness need and reproduction-immortality need as two mediators from the perspective of needs satisfaction.Methods:A total of 490 grandparents completed the Inventory of Grandparental In-volvement,the Relatedness Need Satisfaction Subscale from General Needs Satisfaction Scale,the Biological Mode Sub-scale from the Symbolic Immortality Instrument,and the Meaningful Life Measure.Results:Grandparental involvement had influence on meaning in life with a direct effect size of 55.4％;through relatedness need satisfaction with a mediating ef-fect size of 30.4％;and through reproduction-immortality need satisfaction with a mediating effect size of 14.2％.Conclu-sion:The satisfaction of relatedness need and reproduction-immortality need mediated the effect of grandparental involve-ment on meaning in life.关键词
