Peer Victimization and Non-suicidal Self-Injury in Early Adolescence:The Roles of Ruminative Responses and Self-Efficacy in Managing Negative Affect

Abstract
Objective:To explore the internal mechanism of the relationship between peer victimization and non-suicid-al self-injury in early adolescent,this study constructed a moderated mediation model,focusing on the mediating effect of ruminative responses and the moderating effect of self-efficacy in managing negative affect in the relationship.Methods:A total of 891 junior high school students participated in this investigation.They completed a series of self-report surveys in-cluding Multidimensional Peer Victimization Scale,Ruminative Responses Scale,the Scale of Regulatory Emotional Self-ef-ficacy and Adolescents Self-Harm Scale.Results:Peer victimization,ruminative responses and non-suicidal self-injury were significantly and positively correlated with each other.Ruminative responses played a partial mediating role in the re-lationship between peer victimization and non-suicidal self-injury.The mediating effect of ruminative responses in the rela-tionship between peer victimization and non-suicidal self-injury was moderated by self-efficacy in managing negative af-fect.For adolescences with low level of self-efficacy in managing negative affect,the mediating effect of ruminative respons-es was significant.However,for adolescences with high level of self-efficacy in managing negative affect,the mediating ef-fect of ruminative responses was non-significant.Conclusion:Ruminative responses play a partial mediating role in the re-lationship between peer victimization and non-suicidal self-injury among early adolescence,and the mediating effect is moderated by self-efficacy in managing negative affect.关键词
