Peer Victimization and Non-suicidal Self-injury:The Role of Shame and Parental Warmth

Abstract
Objective:To explore the relationship between peer victimization and non-suicidal self-injury(NSSI),as well as the mediating role of shame and the moderating role of parental warmth.Methods:600 students from a junior mid-dle school were tested by Shame Scale,Delaware Bullying Victimization Scale-Student Version,short-Egna Minnen av Barndoms Uppfostran Questionnaires and Non-suicidal Self-injury Assessment Questionnaire(Behavior sub-question-naire).Results:(1)Peer victimization had a significant positive predictive effect on NSSI of junior middle school students.(2)Shame partially mediated the relationship between peer victimization and NSSI.(3)The relationship between shame and NSSI(the second half of the mediating effect)was moderated by parental warmth,that was,the positive effect of shame on NSSI decreased with the increase of parental warmth.Conclusion:The effect of peer victimization on NSSI among junior middle school students is moderated mediating effect,and shame is the mediating variable between the two.Parental warmth can decrease the impact of shame on NSSI.关键词
