Revision and Validation of the Intimate Partner Violence Attitude Scale-Revised

Abstract
Objective:To revise and evaluate psychometric properties of Intimate Partner Violence Attitude Scale-Re-vised(IPVAS-R)among Chinese.Methods:Two samples of students in a university in Tianjin were surveyed with the Inti-mate Partner Violence Attitude Scale-Revised.The Communication Pattern Questionnaire,the Revised Conflict Tactics Scale,the Parental Marital Satisfaction Scale and Pro-Divorce Attitudes Scale were chosen as the criterion-related indica-tors.Conduct confirmatory factor analysis on the scale based on valid questionnaire data,delete item 4 with lower factor load,and conduct reliability and validity testing on the scale based on valid questionnaire data.Results:The final revised scale included 16 items,consisting of three subscales:abuse,violence and control.Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the fitting indexes of the three factor model were good:x2/df=3.81,RMSEA=0.073,SRMR=0.074.The Communication Pat-tern Questionnaire and the Revised Conflict Tactics Scale were chosen as the convergent validity criteria,with absolute val-ues of correlation coefficients ranging from 0.14 to 0.24.The Parental Marital Satisfaction Scale and Pro-Divorce Attitudes Scale were chosen as the discriminant validity criteria,and out of 8 pairs of correlations,7 pairs did not reach a significant correlation.The internal consistency coefficient of the Chinese Version of the IPVAS-R was 0.80.Conclusion:The Chi-nese version of Intimate Partner Violence Attitude Scale-Revised has good reliability and validity,and can be used as a tool to evaluate the attitude towards intimate partner violence.关键词
