Abstract

The micro-polluted source water in the upper reaches of the Pearl River System has a sudden increase in ammonia nitrogen concentration,while the traditional drinking water treatment technology cannot effectively remove ammonia nitrogen.This study adopts a combination process of modified zeolite adsorption and biological contact oxidation to establish a pilot plant with a sewage treatment capacity of 1 m3/h,thus treating micro-polluted water with sudden increase in ammonia nitrogen concentration.The results show that when the ammonia nitrogen concentration suddenly increases,the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen by modified zeolite adsorption is 44.51%,and the ammonia nitrogen removal rate by the combination process of modified zeolite adsorption and biological contact oxidation can reach 94.17%,and the ammonia nitrogen concentration in the effluent is lower than 0.5 mg/L.Compared to conventional processes,the combined process of modified zeolite adsorption and biological contact oxidation can reduce operating costs by approximately 0.066 yuan/m3,with a reduction rate of 14.8%.
