Effect of narrative nursing intervention on psychological resilience,coping strategies,and care burden among caregivers of children with tuberculosis

Abstract
Objective:Due to the unique characteristics of the pediatric population with pulmonary tuberculosis and the nature of the disease,caregivers often experience care burden during the caregiving process,which can negatively impact the quality of care for the affected children and hinder their treatment and recovery.Previous investigations in this study revealed that improving the psychological coping and adapt ability of caregivers can alleviate care burden.Narrative nursing mode emphasizes the individual's interpretation of inner emotions,values,and significance,contributing to the regulation of the psychological state of caregivers.To enhance the psychological adaptation and coping abilities of caregivers of children with pulmonary tuberculosis and alleviate care burden,this study applied narrative nursing intervention to explore its effects on psychological resilience,coping strategies,and care burden. Methods:From January to October 2022,84 caregivers of children with pulmonary tuberculosis in a Grade A hospital in Hebei Province were randomly assigned to a control group and a narrative nursing group,with 42 individuals in each group.The control group received routine nursing care,while the narrative nuring group received narrative nursing care in addition to routine care.Changes in scores for psychological resilience,coping strategies,and care burden were compared between the 2 groups. Results:After the intervention,both groups showed an increase in psychological resilience scores and positive coping strategy scores compared to before the intervention,with the narrative nursing group scoring higher than the control group and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Additionally,both groups exhibited a decrease in care burden scores and negative coping strategy scores after the intervention,with the narrative nursing group scoring lower than the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05). Conclusion:Narrative nursing intervention can enhance the psychological resilience of caregivers of children with pulmonary tuberculosis,improve their coping strategies,and ultimately alleviate their care burden.关键词
