Carbon capture scheme for oxy-fuel combustion based on reforming gas injection-oxygen blast furnace

Abstract
Carbon capture,utilization and storage(CCUS)technology presents a viable option for the iron and steel industry to achieve carbon neutrality.However,in China,the pre-dominant steel production technique involves blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace long flow process,resulting in numerous processes and low-concentration carbon emission.Hence,eco-nomically efficient carbon capture solutions are still lacking.Against this context,through intro-ducing gasifier to reforming top gas,the existing top gas recycling-oxygen blast furnace process can be improved.A carbon capture scheme was proposed based on reforming gas injection-oxygen blast furnace process coupled with oxy-fuel combustion technology.In addition,the potential for energy-saving and carbon emission reduction of this scheme was evaluated through employing modeling and carbon flow analysis method in Aspen Plus.The results show that the carbon cap-ture technology using oxy-fuel combustion method exhibits good integration and coupling effects with the low-carbon smelting process of oxygen blast furnace,reducing the complexity of carbon capture in the steel industry.The energy consumption of unit CO2 capture using oxy-fuel com-bustion method is 2623.91 kJ/kg,which is 51.4%lower than that of the existing amine-based absorption technique and 26.2%lower than that of the pressure swing adsorption method.This approach can capture 1.5 t CO2 per ton of steel produced,potentially achieving carbon neutrality in the steel production process.Overall,this scheme enables low-cost and large-scale carbon cap-ture on the basis of low-carbon smelting in blast furnaces,which is a feasible solution for the green and low-carbon transformation of the steel industry.关键词
