Abstract

WOx-SiO2 catalysts with different tungsten loading were prepared by impregnation method and the structures and acid properties of the WOx-SiO2 catalysts were characterized by XRD,ICP,EDS,Raman,NH3-TPD and N2 adsorption-desorption.The effects of reaction time,reaction temperature,reaction pressure and H2O amount on the product distribution of glucose hydrogenolysis over the WOx-SiO2 catalyst coupled with Ru-SiO2 catalyst were studied.The experimental results show that the WOx-SiO2 catalyst has a WO3 crystal structure,while the coupled catalyst with Ru-SiO2 exhibits good ethylene glycol selectivity.The WOx-SiO2 catalyst with 15%(w)of tungsten loading exhibits a better ethylene glycol yield of 34.5%which is attributed to its stronger acid property.The reaction process can affect the relative rates of bond breaking and hydrogenation reactions,thereby affecting the selectivity of the products.
