Correlation analysis of Ocular Biometric parameters and refractive status in preschool children

Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between refractive status and ocular biometric parameters in preschool-children aged 3~6 years.Methods A total of preschool-children aged 3~6 years were enrolled from March to December 2021.Refractory factors were measured with cycloplegic retinoscopy,and spherical equivalent(SE)were calculated.Axial length(AL),central corneal thickness(CCT),anterior chamber depth(ACD),and Keratometry(K)were recorded by NIDEK AL-Scan,the ratio of axial length/corneal curvature(AL/CR)was calculated.Statistics were analyzed by SPSS24.0 software.Results In children aged 3~6 years old,the more refractive status progresses towards myopia,the thinner the relative CCT,the deeper the ACD,the higher K,the higher AL,and the higher AL/CR.There is a significant negative correlation between AL,AL/CR,and SE,and AL/CR can explain 75.4%of the variance of SE.There is a positive correlation between age and AL/CR,AL,but no significant correlation with K.The area under the ROC curve for AL/CR diagnosis of myopia is 0.941,which is more efficient than using AL alone for diagnosing myopia.Conclusion AL and AL/CR are the main factors reflecting the refraction of preschool children.AL/CR can better predict SE and judge myopia.Age is a significant factor affecting AL/CR and AL,and it is more closely related to AL.The older the age,the longer the AL.关键词
