Promoting or Suppressing:Digitalization and Green Transformation of Manufacturing Industry

Abstract
Based on the perspectives of energy utilization efficiency and green technology innovation,this article first theoretically explains the impact of digital development on the green transformation of manufacturing industry,and then empirically tests the impact of digitization on the green transformation of manufacturing industry and its heterogeneous impact using sample data from 30 provinces in China from 2011 to 2020.The research findings are as fol-lows:Firstly,the digitalization has significantly enabled the green transformation of manufacturing industry,and this enabling effect is manifested not only in terms of productivity,but also in terms of industrial structure.Secondly,the driving effect of digitalization on the green transformation of manufacturing industry has already emerged in the southern region,but not in the northern region.Thirdly,the digitalization can promote the green transformation of manu-facturing industry by improving energy efficiency and promoting green technology innovation.Finally,the role of digitalization in promoting the green transfor-mation of manufacturing industry still exists in the long term,and shows a feature of increasing marginal effects.The research conclusions of this article are conducive to achieving the green development of manufacturing industry and the modernization of harmonious coexistence between human and nature.关键词
