Abstract

Pervaporation desalination has advantages in treating high saline brine.Sulfonated aromatic polymer(SAP)features micro-phase separation structures and ionic nano-channels that make it a potential membrane material for desalination.In order to improve the separation performance of SAP membrane while maintaining great mechanical strength,SAP-GO/PTFE mixed matrix membranes(MMMs)were prepared with hydrophilic polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)porous film as the support,a synthesized SAP sulfonated polystyrene-grafted SEBS(S-SEBS-g-PSt)as the polymer matrix and two-dimensional graphene oxide(GO)as the inorganic fillers.The results show that GO doping significantly improves hydrophilicity,mechanical strength and dimensional stability of SAP membranes.When GO loading reached 1%,a high flux of 91.8 kg·(m2·h)-1 and a salt rejection over 99.96%were achieved for 10%NaCl solution treatment at 80℃,which demonstrates the great potential in industrial applications.
