The Origin and Evolution of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Traditional Chinese Medicine for the Prevention and Treatment of Epidemic Diseases

Abstract
Acupuncture and moxibustion always played an important role in the prevention and treatment of epidemic diseases in ancient times,which was clearly recorded in the Huangdi Neijing,and was often used in the acute phase of epidemics.In the historical development process of acupuncture and moxibustion in the pre-vention and treatment of epidemic diseases,the overall characteristics were in the development of inheritance,mainly manifested in four aspects:The nine-needle treatment has been used less in later generations,but the scope of applicable diseases was more abundant.After the Sui and Tang dynasties,the specific treatments for epidemics were diverse.The idea of acupoint selection for epidemic diseases basically followed the principle in the Huangdi Neijing,and has developed in the concurrent pattern and syndrome differentiation.Single-point therapy also gradually developed into combined acupoint therapy.The range of epidemic diseases were gradually enriched,and the understanding of single disease was also deepening.关键词
