A Survey on Anxiety and Depression Among Elderly People in Rural Areas Along the Yellow River in Lüliang City,Shanxi Province

Abstract
Objective To understand the current situation of anxiety and depression symptoms among elderly people in rural areas along the Yellow River in Lüliang,and analyze their physiological influencing factors.Methods A stratified random sampling of 665 elderly people from rural areas along the Yellow River in Lüliang was used as the research subjects.Relevant data such as demographic characteristics,anxiety symptoms,depression symptoms,height,weight,and hematological indicators were obtained and analyzed using questionnaire surveys,physical tests,and medical examinations.Results The detection rates of anxiety and depression symptoms among the elderly were 33.7% and 10.8%,respectively.There were significant differences in the detection rates of anxiety symptoms among different marital status,BMI levels,and blood pressure groups,and there were significant differences in the detection rates of depression symptoms among the elderly among different blood lipid groups(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of anxiety symptoms in the BMI overweight group was 0.68 times higher than that in the BMI normal group;the risk of anxiety symptoms in the hypertension group was 1.95 times higher than that in the non hypertension group;the risk of depression symptoms in the hyperlipidemia group is 2.50 times higher than that in the non hyperlipidemia group.Conclusion Physiological indicators such as body shape,blood pressure,and blood lipids are the important factors affecting the psychological health of the elderly in rural areas along the Yellow River in Lüliang.关键词
