Relationship between trait anger and mentalization of college students:Moderated mediation model

Abstract
Objective:To explore the influence of trait anger on the mentalization of college students and the role of negative rumination thinking and positive rumination thinking in the relationship between them.Methods:A total of 1173 college students were investigated by the Chinese version of Trait Anger Revision Scale,College Students Ru-mination Thinking Scale and mental RFQ-8 scale.Results:①Trait anger was negatively correlated with positive ru-mination and mentalization,and positively correlated with negative rumination.Negative rumination was significantly negatively correlated with positive rumination and mentalization.There was a significantly positive correlation be-tween positive rumination and mentalization.②Trait anger not only directly affected the level of mentalization of col-lege students,but also influenced the level of mentalization of college students through the mediating effect of nega-tive rumination.The direct effect value was-0.226,and the indirect effect value was-0.258.③Positive rumination sig-nificantly moderated the direct pathway(β=-0.066,P<0.05),the first half pathway(β=0.080,P<0.001)and the second half pathway(β=-0.140,P<0.001)of the mediation model.Conclusion:Trait anger can directly and negatively predict the mentalization level of college students,and trait anger can indirectly predict the mentalization level of col-lege students through negative rumination.Positive rumination has a moderating effect on both the direct path and the first and second half mediating path of trait anger's influence on college students'mentalization.关键词
