Abstract

Objective To investigate the characteristics and regulations of corneal biomechanical parameters dur-ing small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE)and femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileuses(FS-LASIK)before and after surgery using corvis scheimpflug technology(Corvis ST).Methods A retrospective case-control study.A total of 125 eyes of 125 myopic patients who underwent refractive surgery at the ocular optical center of the Second People's Hospital of Foshan from May 2021 to October 2021 were selected(right eyes were all taken as the study subjects),and divided into two groups according to the surgical methods.A routine eye examination was performed in all myopes,and relevant parame-ters of corneal biomechanics including central corneal thickness(CCT),intraocular pressure(IOP),the first applanation time(A1T),length(A1L),velocity(A1V),the second applanation time(A2T),length(A2L),velocity(A2V),peak distance(PD),deformation amplitude(DA),deformation amplitude 2 ratio(DA 2 ratio),time from the start until the highest concavity(HCT),central curvature radius at highest concavity(HCR),inverse concave radius(IR),corvis biomechanical index(CBI),ambrosio related thickness horizontal direction(ARTh),stiffness parameter(SP-A1).The data were statistically analyzed using SPSS25.0,and the differences of corneal biomechanical parameters among different groups were analyzed using paired samples t-test.Results The differences of each corneal biomechanical parameter be-tween the two groups before and after the surgery revealed that the differences in A1V,A2T,DA 2 ratio as well as ARTh were statistically significant(t=-2.02,P=0.045;t=-2.98,P=0.004;t=-2.13,P=0.035;t=-2.82,P=0.006).Conclusions Compared with FS-LASIK there were obvious differences in A1V,A2T,DA 2 ratio,ARTh in the difference before and after the operation when the cutting amount of corneal thickness was comparable,and the former changed less than the latter,so that the effect of SMILE on corneal biomechanics was less than FS-LASIK.The characteris-tics and the rules of corneal mechanical parameters changes after two different surgical procedures need to be further ex-plored in research and analysis.
