Abstract

For the practical engineering problem of the pipeline pump efficiency reduction caused by the elbow suction passage,orientation and quantitative analysis was carried out for the energy loss of the flow field.Taking a single-stage single-suction pipeline pump with 190 revolutions as an example,a numerical simulation and test study were conducted on the performance of the pipeline pump under different flow conditions(0.5Q~1.2Q),were compared with the related characteristics of straight taper suction passage end suction pump under the same parameters,and the distribution characteristics of the internal flow loss of the pipeline pump and the influence mechanism of the elbow suction passage on the flow loss in the pump were analyzed.The results indicate that turbulent and wall entropy production are the main sources of total entropy production.With the increase of the flow rate,the overall hydraulic loss shows a trend of decreasing first and then increasing.The modification of the suction passage does not change the trend of the overall flow loss under different flow conditions,but the elbow suction passage increases the flow inhomogeneity at the impeller inlet,which mainly enhances the turbulent pulsation of the internal flow,and leads to the increase of the hydraulic loss of each fluid unit.In addition,the separation of eddy current and flow makes the impeller segment locally present high entropy production rate,while the elbow suction passage makes the high entropy production area of the impeller segment more widely distributed.And the turbulent entropy production rate of the impeller segment can reach about 90%.The research results can provide a theoretical basis for the optimization design of pipeline pumps.
