Abstract

In order to investigate the main noise sources of a multi-blade centrifugal fan in a range hood,the contribution of each component to the noise at the measurement point at seven specific frequencies was calculated and compared with the help of unsteady flow field simulation and acoustic noise simulation methods,and the intrinsic mechanism was analyzed from the perspective of sound propagation.The results show that the main noise sources of the fan system are located on the inner volute surface and the impeller surface.For the former one,the noise at 341.1 Hz mainly comes from the inner surface near motor and volute outlet,with contributions of 41%and 39%,respectively.The noise at 713.78 Hz mainly comes from the side curved surface accounting for 42%of the contribution.And the main contribution of 1137 Hz noise comes from the bottom side inner surface of the volute,accounting for 74%.For the impeller,the short blades near motor contribute significantly to low-frequency noise below 1000 Hz,with contribution of 64%,while the long blades near the fan inlet make a 61%contribution to the medium and high frequency noise above 1000 Hz.The impact of the inner volute surface on the noise at the measurement point is mostly caused by its acoustic reflection and amplification ability.The high speed airflow at the impeller outlet is the main reason for the formation of a broadband noise.The low-frequency"hump"characteristic in frequency spectrum of the measurement point is caused by the coupling of broadband noise generated by blade rotation and the volute amplification effect at specific frequencies.The research results can provide basis for further optimization of aerodynamic fan noise of the range hood.
