Abstract

The steel truss-concrete composite girder has been used for the stiffening beam of cable-stayed bridge,which has the problems of unreasonable design parameters and large amount material consumption.For cable-stayed bridge,a new concrete slab-steel truss composite girder was proposed,in which the concrete slab was the primary bearing member and the steel girder is stiffened.Based on the assumption of plane section,a simplified calculation method of stiffness,internal force and stress of composite girder was proposed and validated by finite element model.According to the stress state of the stiffening beam,the key parameters of the design were determined,those are the cross-sectional area of the concrete slab,the cross-sectional area ratio and distance of centroids between the chord steel structure and concrete slab.The proposed structure is applied to design the stiffening girder of Modaomen waterway cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 320 m in Shenjiang Railway.Based on the minimum steel consumption,the reasonable design parameters are given,i.e.,the cross-sectional area of the concrete slab is 9.3 m2,the cross-sectional area ratio between the lower chord steel struc-ture and the concrete slab is 0.0129,and the distance between the two centroids is 4.8 m.The results of mechanical analysis show that the concrete slab bears about 90%of the axial force,and the steel chord bears about 87%of the bending moment.
