Tertiary lymphatic structure:can it be the hope of patients with liver cancer?

Abstract
Tertiary lymphoid structures(TLS)are formed by the aggregation of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes driven by various chemokines or cytokines in the tumor microenvironment.TLS are formed in many cancer types,with few exceptions,and play a key role in the progression of various tumors.Their presence predicts a favorable prognosis and is correlated with immunotherapeutic response.A large number of studies have shown that TLS have a positive prognostic effect on other types of tumors,such as melanoma,endometrial cancer,pancreatic cancer,colorectal cancer,and non-small cell lung cancer.However,the role of TLS in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)remains controversial and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain to be elucidated.Therefore,this paper discusses the status of HCC,the mechanism of TLS formation,the relationship between TLS and the prognosis of HCC patients,the potential role of TLS in establishing and/or maintaining local immune responses,and how this understanding can guide therapeutic interventions,hoping to provide new ideas for the development of novel therapies.关键词
