摘要

Abstract

To investigate the long-term postoperative outcomes and related complications of extracapsular stabilization(ECS)in the treatment of cranial cruciate ligament disease(CCLD)in the canine stifle joint. This study employed a retrospective approach, utilizing medical records and telephone interviews with animal owners. The investigation covered dogs diagnosed with CCLD and treated with ECS from 2015 to 2021 at China Agricultural University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.Basic information was recorded, and long-term postoperative outcomes were assessed through lameness scoring, owner satisfaction, and evaluation of postoperative complications. The results revealed data from 145 CCLD dogs, with 170 knee joints undergoing ECS.The most common breeds affected by CCLD were Poodles and Bichon Frises, accounting for 50.8%of the total cases. The average age of onset was 7.8 years. One year postoperatively,85.3%had lameness scores ≤1.Owner satisfaction was 90.6%.The complication rate was 26.1%,and the rate of severe complications requiring secondary surgery or medical treatment was 10.6%.The findings suggest that ECS has a good long-term effect on improving lameness in dogs with CCLD,with high owner satisfaction.
