Effects of Different Stimuli on Masseter Vestibular Myogenic Evoked Potentials

Abstract
Objective To investigate masseter vestibular myogenic evoked potentials(mVEMP)elicited by different stimuli in healthy individuals.Methods 31 healthy subjects with normal hearing were selected.The individuals underwent mVEMP testing using distinct stimuli,including 500 Hz tone burst,1000 Hz tone burst,and click.After the testing,the latency of P11 and P21 waves,P11-N21 inter-peak intervals,and P11-N21 wave amplitudes were meticulously recorded.After data collection,calculations were conducted to determine the latency symmetry coefficient,amplitude ratio,and amplitude asymmetry ratio.Results Statistically significant differences were observed in the latency of P11 and N21 waves,P11-N21 inter-peak intervals,and P11-N21 wave amplitudes elicited by different auditory stimuli in mVEMP testing(P<0.05).However,there were no statistically significant differences in latency symmetry coefficient,amplitude ratio,and amplitude asymmetry ratio(P>0.05).Conclusion Employing 500Hz tone burst as stimuli for inducing mVEMP in normal individuals resulted in higher wave amplitudes and more easily distinguishable waveforms,and there was no effect on the amplitude ratio or amplitude asymmetry ratio results.关键词
