Temporal and spatial characteristics of seasonal drought and its response to atmospheric circulation in Anhui Province

Abstract
[Objective]Under the background of global warming,drought events are more frequent and intense.The study on the characteristics of seasonal drought and the remote correlation of atmospheric circulation in Anhui Province can provide guidance for drought prevention and control in Anhui Province.[Methods]Using the standardized precipitation index as the drought index,utilizing Sen slope estimation and the Mann-Kendall trend test to analyze the temporal and spatial characteristics of season-al precipitation trends and drought in Anhui Province.Additionally,exploring the correlation between seasonal drought and atmospheric circulation by using cross wavelet transform(XWT)and wavelet coherence transform(WTC)in each region.[Results]The result showed that during 1960-2021,in spring and autumn,precipitation decreases and the ratio of drought sta-tions increases.In the summer and winter,precipitation increases and the drought station ratio decreases;The frequency of drought in spring and summer is the highest in Huaibei Plain,and the intensity of drought is the highest in Dabie Mountain area.The frequency of autumn drought is the highest in the mountainous area of southern Anhui,and the intensity of autumn drought is the highest in the hilly area of Jianghuai.Winter drought frequency is the highest in Dabie mountain area and drought intensity is the highest in southern Anhui mountain area.On the resonance period of different time scales,there is a good correlation between the Southern Oscillation index(SOI)and spring SPI in central Anhui and southern Anhui,the North Atlantic Oscillation(NAO)and summer SPI in central Anhui and southern Anhui and winter SPI in southern Anhui,the North American Oscillation(PNA)and autumn SPI in central Anhui and southern Anhui,the Arctic Oscillation index(AO)and winter SPI in northern Anhui and central Anhui.[Conclusion]There is a tendency to dry in spring and autumn,and to wet in summer and winter.The drought frequency is higher in plain and hilly areas,and the drought intensity is higher in mountainous and hilly areas in Anhui province.SOI,NAO,PNA and AO are important driving factors of seasonal drought in Anhui Province.关键词
