Realistic Picture and Remodeling of Rural Teachers'Local Sentiment

Abstract

Local sentiment is the spiritual pillar for rural teachers to adhere to and contribute to rural education.This paper conducted a survey on 904 rural teachers in 8 counties of Central H Province to comprehensively and deeply comprehend the current situation of rural teachers'rural education sentiment and proposed improvement suggestions.The results show that the rural teachers'local sentiment is generally at a medium-low level,and the four first-level dimensions are between medium and low levels,from low to high,namely,sense of professional identity,sense of local community,sense of professional mission,and sense of professional fulfillment.There are significant differences in rural teachers'local sentiments in terms of gender,age,education,marital status,and household registration,with relatively lower levels of rural sentiments for males,those who are 35 years of age or younger,those with a bachelor's degree or higher,those who are in elementary school,those who are in special positions and oriented,those who are unmarried,and those who are of urban household registration.At present,the main problems of rural teachers'local sentiment are the separation of rural teachers from local society,the alienation from local education,the uncertainty of their role,and the lack of firmness in their career.In order to cultivate rural teachers'local sentiment,the self-construction and self-education of individual teachers is the key,the government's guarantee and support is the foundation,and the humanistic care of the rural society is the catalyst.
