Abstract

To achieve intelligent oil-water separation under extreme conditions,a smart pH-responsive membrane(PPS-CA/TiO2/SNPs)was prepared by the deposition-hot pressing method using polyphenylene sulfide(PPS)nonwo-ven fabric as the base membrane,n-octanoic acid(CA),butyl titanate(Ti(OBu)4),and nano-fumed silica(SNPs)as modifiers.The surface chemical structure composition,morphology and hydrophilicity were also char-acterized,the pH responsiveness,high temperature resistance and recycling performance were also tested.The results show that the PPS-CA/TiO2/SNPs fiber membrane has sensitive pH responsiveness and exhibits superhy-drophobicity and superoleophilicity in aqueous environment(pH=6.5),while in alkaline water environment(pH=12),the membrane surface changes to oleophobic and hydrophilic.The flux of p-chlorobenzene and dichloroethane during oil-water separation can reach more than 25 000 L/(m2·h),and the retention rate is above 95%.Even after 20 cycles of retention test,the separation efficiency of dichloroethane can still reach more than 95%.At the same time,tests under extreme conditions show the membrane to have good stability,which gives it the potential to be used in extreme environments.
