Progress in the study of masticatory muscle changes after orthognathic surgery
摘要
Abstract
Orthognathic surgery is a complex procedure that can change the shape of the jaws and the occlusal relation-ship,which can have a profound effect on the patient's facial aesthetics and occlusal function.In addition to the function of mastication,the size and contraction force of the masticatory muscles are closely related to the morphology of the jaws,and the activity of the masticatory muscles can affect the therapeutic effect of orthognathic surgery.When orthognathic surgery leads to changes in the morphology of the jaws and the occlusal relationship,the masticatory muscles need to be re-adapted to the changes.Changes in jaw morphology and occlusal relationships after orthognathic surgery,as well as aesthetic outcomes,are predictable,but their effects on the masticatory muscles are unknown.The article provides a re-view of the recent advances in the researches related to the molecular biology,electromyography,imaging,and functional effects of orthognathic surgery on the masticatory muscles,with the aim of guiding different types of orthognathic surgical programs.关键词
