Hu Guohua's Experience of Treating Ovulation Disorders Infertility

Abstract
Professor Hu Guohua believes that the main etiology and pathogenesis of ovulation disorders infertility is kidney deficiency and phlegm-stasis obstruction of collaterals.In the treatment,it is repeatedly emphasized that"to get pregnant,you must first regulate the menstruation",and the menstrual cycle and menstrual volume should be adjusted by regulating qi and removing stasis,resolving phlegm and dredging collaterals,nourishing qi and blood,and then further nourishing the kidney and blood,promoting ovum and trying to get pregnant.Professor Hu's treatment of ovulation disorders infertility is divided into three stages:In the first stage,eliminating stasis and resolving phlegm,removing fat and dredging collaterals in order to clear up obstacles for follicle development and discharge.In the second stage,nourishing qi and blood,tonifying the kidney and filling sperm in order to promote follicle development.In the third stage,staged treatment and warming the uterus in order to promote follicle discharge and implantation of fertilized eggs.According to the four stages of menstruation,Professor Hu attaches importance to the discharge of menstrual blood stasis and the generation of qi and blood,and the adequacy of kidney yin and kidney yang.During the menstrual period,he pays attention to the discharge of menstrual blood,uses Taoren(Semen Persicae),Honghua(Flos Carthami),Yimucao(Herba Leonuri),Zelan(Herba Lycopi),Xiangfu(Rhizoma Cyperi),etc.During the follicular period,he pays attention to tonifying qi and blood,as well as nourishing the liver and kidney,so he often uses Four Substances Decoction,and Double Supreme Pill.Ovulation needs to improve the endometrial receptivity,promote the development of follicles and discharge,so this period of drugs should be to warm and tonify the kidney yang,that's why he adopts lood-activating drugs,such as Danshen(Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae),Jixueteng(Caulis Spatholobi),Chishao(Radix Paeoniae Rubra),Chuanxiong(Rhizoma Chuanxiong),etc.Luteal phase needs to promote the secretion of progesterone,improve luteal function,pay attention to pro-tecting the spleen and kidney,so that the kidney yang qi is sufficient,the spleen and stomach function is strong in order to avoid stagna-tion because of nourishment,that's why besides tonifying the spleen and kidney,qi-regulatingbdrugs such as Zhiqiao(Fructus Auran-tii),Qingpi(Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride),etc.are used.If the patient is found to have cold constitution,sometimes with a large amount of long and clear leucorrhea,Professor Hu will always use 6-9 g of Guizhi(Ramulus Cinnamomi)throughout the menstrual cy-cle.关键词
