Abstract

In order to study the influence of joint constraints on the compression bearing capacity of single angle with one leg connected,a knife-edge support with spring has been designed,and the eccentric compression bearing capacity of 120 equal angle steel was studied through experiments.The failure mode,bearing capacity and deformation mode of the minimum-axis and parallel-axis arrangement were analyzed,the effects of different joint constraint and joint type on the bearing capacity were studied and compared with domestic standards.The results show that when the minimum axis is arranged,the failure mode of the member is bending,and the rotation axis is between the minimum axis and the parallel axis.When the parallel axis is arranged,the failure mode of the component is bending around the main axis parallel to the knife-edge.When the slenderness ratio is less than 120,the bearing capacity of members is mainly controlled by eccentricity.A larger eccentricity leads to a lower bearing capacity.When the slenderness ratio is larger than 120,the bearing capacity of members is mainly controlled by the joint constraint.A larger constraint leads to a higher bearing capacity.Class A and C connections have their own advantages at different slenderness ratios,but the bearing capacity of class B connections is always lower than that of class A and C connections.Compared with the standard,GB 50017-2017 and DL/T 5486-2020 do not consider the influence of the joint type on the compression bearing capacity of the single angle,and the calculation results of standards have some limitations.The research conclusions have some useful guidance for the engineering design.
