Abstract
At the end of the 20th century,the educational values of British museums were underestimated.This led to insufficient exploration of museum resources and unsatisfactory feedback from the public.In order to explore,extend and improve the potential of future museum,Eilean Hooper-Greenhill,a leading figure in the field of museum education,wrote The Educational Role of the Museum with several experts from different research fields.The editor used the concept of'communication with meaning'to open the main topic,discussing how museums can use their multiple educational roles to interact with social,political and cultural contexts based on their shift between communication,learning,exhibition and audience relationships.In this way,the book can help museums to build a new and dynamic relationship between museums and audiences,and also achieve the goal of democratic and open image.This book is essential for the contemporary Chinese museums because it has provided some answers to ambiguous concepts and fierce conflicts,which could help researchers and staff to better understand the relationship between objects and audiences.关键词
