南京中老年人血细胞分析参数参考区间的建立
Establishment of reference intervals for blood cell analysis parameters in middle-aged and elderly people in Nanjing

Abstract
Objective:The parameters of blood cell analysis are usually influenced by comprehensive factors such as age,altitude,environment,and nutritional status.Currently,there is limited research on reference ranges for middle-aged and elderly people.This study aims to establish reference ranges for blood cell analysis parameters in healthy middle-aged and elderly people in Nanjing,Jiangsu,China. Methods:A total of 24 752 apparently healthy middle-aged and elderly people,including 15 286 males and 9 466 females,who underwent physical examinations at the Health Management Center of First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from May 2021 to March 2022 were collected.An automatic blood cell analyzer was used to measure 22 parameters,including white blood cell count(WBC)and classification,red blood cell count(RBC),hemoglobin(Hb),hematocrit(HCT),mean red blood cell volume(MCV),mean corpuscular hemoglobin(MCH),mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration(MCHC),coefficient of variation of red blood cell distribution width(RDW-CV),platelet count(PLT),plateletcrit(PCT),mean platelet volume(MPV),and platelet distribution width(PDW),etc.Differences in these parameters between different age groups and genders were analyzed,and the reference intervals for various parameters in middle-aged and elderly people in the Nanjing were established.Furthermore,differences between these reference intervals for Chinese adults published by national industry standards were analyzed. Results:There were statistically significant differences in the levels of the parameters of blood cell analysis in middle-aged and elderly people between genders(all P<0.05).Except for absolute eosinophil count(AEC),eosinophil ratio(ER),MPV,PDW,absolute basophil count(ABC)in middle-aged and elderly men,and BR in middle-aged and elderly women(all P>0.05),the remaining parameters showed statistically significant differences among different age groups(all P<0.05).Differences in erythrocyte parameters among different age groups were statistically significant(all P<0.05),with RBC,HGB,HCT,and MCHC decreasing and RDW-CV increasing with age.Additionally,levels of erythrocyte-related parameters were higher in middle-aged and elderly men than those in middle-aged and elderly women.The total white blood cell count in middle-aged and elderly males showed an increasing trend with age,as did the proportion of monocytes.PLT and PCT showed statistically significant differences among different age groups(P<0.05),with levels decreasing with age,and the levels in middle-aged and elderly females higher than those in middle-aged and elderly males.Differences were observed in the reference intervals for various parameters of blood cell analysis of middle-aged and elderly people in Nanjing and those published by industry standards for Chinese adults. Conclusion:The blood cell parameters in middle-aged and elderly people change dynamically with age.The reference intervals established in this study provide important laboratory reference values for clinical diagnosis,treatment,and health care in middle-aged and elderly people.关键词
