城市更新会改善城市群内部发展不平衡吗?OACHSSCD

Faced with the dual dilemmas of the decrease of available new lands in cities and the uneven spatial distribution of economic activities within urban agglomerations,urban renewal proves to be a strategic solution to address the imbalanced regional development.Using the panel data of ten major Chinese urban agglomerations from 2006 to 2020,this study examines the impact of urban renewal on the unbalanced development within urban agglomerations.It is found that urban renewal has significantly narrowed the economic gap between core and peripheral cities,especially in coastal areas,areas of large population size and urban agglomeration boundary areas.Further study finds out that urban renewal strengthens the productive manufacturing function,investment attraction ability and employment creation ability of peripheral cities,consequently reducing the economic disparity with core cities.However,despite the implementation of urban renewal in core cities,their productive service functions have not been strengthened.The conclusions drawn in this paper provide reference for improving the imbalance of development within urban agglomerations,fostering a coordinated development framework encompassing large,medium,and small cities,and formulating urban renewal oriented policies.
