Estimation method for throughput capacity of navigation lock running as an open channel considering the non-uniformity of water diversion

Abstract
There is a strong correlation between the timing of navigation lock running as an open channel and the distribution of water diversion time in the water diversion project.In view of the lack of a mature method for estimating the throughput capacity of the navigation lock running as an open channel,based on the navigation characteristics of lock chamber,considering the non-uniformity of the water diversion time distribution,the estimation formula of the opening throughput capacity of the navigation lock including the non-uniformity coefficient of the water diversion was deduced.This method had been applied to the Paihekou Lock at the starting point of Yangtze-to-Huaihe Canal.The calculation results show that the lock throughput capacity in the design average year can be about 2 times higher than that of the simple lock operation mode,by using the comprehensive operation mode of the lock mode in the water diversion period and the channel mode in the non-water diversion period.The problem of insufficient lock throughput capacity can be compensated by the way of opening the lock to cross the ship quickly.Compared with other existing research results,the estimation results of this method are more reasonable and more suitable for the estimation of lock throughput capacity of water diversion project with lock opening conditions.关键词
