Abstract

Liquid crystal systems have the advantages of long-term moisturizing,excellent skin feel,and encapsulating functional substances,which is a research hotspot in the preparation of cosmetic emulsions.In this work,the effects of five commercial emulsifiers(which were mixtures and contained co-emulsifiers therein)on the structure,stability,skin feel,appearance,and moisture retention of liquid crystals were investigated.The aim of this work was to develop a formula which was suitable for dry skin and had obvious liquid crystal structure,long-term moisturizing and smooth skin feel.The experimental results showed that TEGO CARE 165,Olivem 1000K,Prolipid TM 141,Bionic liquid crystal,and DOLCEA MB could form liquid crystal structure.Adding anionic emulsifier sodium stearoyl glutamate would reduce the formation of liquid crystal.Among the investigated systems,TEGO CARE 165 system had the most dense and regular liquid crystal structure and showed the best moisture degree and skin feel.It also showed good long-term stability and long-term moisturizing effect.This system could be used as a matrix which played the role of liquid crystal reservoir.
