摘要

Abstract

The abrasive in toothpaste is one of the main components that provides toothpaste cleaning power.Proper selection of the type and amount of abrasive can provide consumers with good experience of teeth cleaning,and can even achieve better extrinsic stain removal and tooth whitening efficacy.However,improper addition of abrasive can result in excessive tooth wear,leading to safety issues.Therefore,developing a convenient and effective method to measure the tooth wear caused by toothpaste has always been a demand.However,due to some limitations such as experimental conditions,the commonly used method,radioactive dentin abrasion(RDA),cannot be implemented domestically.Herein,an optimized alternative method to RDA based on profilometry was introduced,which called Radioactive Dentin Abrasivity-Profilometry Equivalent(RDA-PE).The establishment and methodological validation of the RDA-PE method were also introduced,as well as its relationship with RDA.Meanwhile,the feasibility of using RDA-PE method to determine the frictional properties of toothpastes was discussed.
