Digital Economy Enabling Common Prosperity:Theoretical Analysis and Empirical Evidence

Abstract
In the context of Chinese path to modernization,digital economy is a key force to achieve common prosperity.Based on the panel data of 251 cities at prefecture level and above from 2013 to 2021,this paper analyzes the relationship between digital economy,labor income share and common prosperity.The results indicate that digital economy can significantly enhance the level of common prosperity,and the above conclusion still holds after considering endogeneity issues and experiencing a series of robustness test.Heterogeneity analysis finds that digital economy has a strong promoting effect on cities in the eastern region,but has a weak promoting effect on cities in the central,western and northeastern regions.Mechanism analysis shows that increas-ing the share of labor income is an important channel for the relationship between digital economy and common prosperity.The threshold effect test results show that the enabling effect of digital economy on common prosperity shows a non-linear increasing characteristic.关键词
