Geometric Calibration of Thermal Cameras Assisted by RGB Cameras

Abstract
Due to the fact that thermal cameras suffer from the problems of low spatial resolution,bad image contrast and blurred image edge,we proposed a novel geometric calibration method of thermal cameras assisted by RGB cameras to improve the geometric positioning accuracy.In the close-range photogrammetry environment,we designed a new 3D geometric calibration field,which took RGB camera and thermal camera into consideration,and adopted interior orientation followed by exterior orientation to sequentially conduct geometric calibration and application measurement.In the oblique airborne photogrammetry environment,we integrated geometric calibration with application measurement,and considered the influence of camera distortion on image positioning accuracy during 3D reconstruction,which could achieve high-precision geometric calibration and 3D reconstruction at the same time.Experimental results show that the proposed method significantly improves the accuracy and robustness of thermal cameras,and provides supports for applications such as high-precision 3D reconstruction.关键词
