Performance Evaluation of Terahertz Sensing-Assisted Mobile Communication Method

Abstract
As a key enabling technology for the next generation of mobile communication networks,terahertz communication,with its large bandwidth characteristics,can meet the high-capacity transmission requirements of various scenarios such as virtual reality,vehicular networks,UAV communications,and inter-satellite communications.However,terahertz communication in mobile scenarios requires high-precision sensing information for beam alignment.Existing sensing-assisted communication methods face challenges in terahertz systems,such as beam tracking lag,weak reflection echoes,and difficult performance evaluation,leaving the system design of integrated terahertz sensing and communication unresolved.To address these issues,a terahertz sensing-assisted mobile communication method and performance evaluation paradigm are proposed.Initially,the azimuth angle and tangential angular velocity of the target user are estimated using the phase and amplitude information in the echo signal.Subsequently,the parameter information of the sensing echo and communication echo is integrated based on the Cramér-Rao bound to obtain the angular domain parameter information of the target user,followed by beam angle correction to achieve real-time beam alignment in terahertz mobile communication.To better evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme,new metrics for equivalent alignment variance and equivalent channel capacity are introduced for the resource-sharing regime.Monte Carlo simulations and numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can significantly enhance the sensing accuracy and communication rate of the integrated terahertz sensing and communication system in scenarios with high user mobility and low sensing resources,with potential for further performance improvement.关键词
