Abstract

The similarity theory is an important foundation for studying the similarity relationship between prototype structure and model structure.At present,most of the vibration table tests on reinforced concrete bridge piers are based on scaled models,but it is difficult to ensure the similarity of material properties af-ter scaled.In order to compensate for the shortcomings of the similarity theory,the reinforcement of the section is optimized and designed to ensure the similarity relationship of material properties according to the principle of equivalent load-bearing capacity of the section.A prototype and finite element model of re-inforced concrete bridge pier structure with a scale ratio of 1∶4 is established,represented by the Ⅷ de-gree zone,and the dynamic time history analysis by applying three different seismic motions of different in-tensities is conducted.The results show that the displacement and drift rate on the top of the model bridge pier are roughly the same as the prototype bridge pier with small errors under the same seismic action.As the peak ground acceleration increases,the error gradually decreases,verifying that the equivalent bearing capacity method can effectively analyze the dynamic similarity of scaled reinforced concrete bridge piers.
