Study on Optimization Strategies of Street Space in Old Blocks Based on PSPL Research Method: A Case of Wenzhou Chengxi Historical Block

Abstract
In the context of an era pursuing stock renewal, the society has put forward higher requirements for improving and optimizing the quality of historical blocks in the city. This paper employs the PSPL research method proposed by Jan Gehl, establishes a set of evaluation criteria for the public space quality in old streets located within cities. Taking the main streets and alleys situated in Chengxi Historical Block in Wenzhou as an example, this paper conducts an investigation and analysis on the material and behavioral aspects of the public space within this block, and finds several problems, including declining block quality, a lack of cultural development, uneven vitality development, and varying levels of satisfaction among the local populace. Based on these identified issues, the paper puts forward a series of strategic suggestions for optimizing these streets, which in turn serve as valuable references for future block renewal and related research development.关键词
