Abstract

To calculate the punching shear capacity of reinforced concrete(RC)slab-column connections equipped with commonly used shear reinforcement(e.g.stirrups and bolts),a shear strength calculation method for RC slab-column connections reinforced with shear reinforcement is proposed by combining the di-agonal-tension failure mechanism of beams and the modified compression-field theory(MCFT).First,the calculation formula for the critical inclined crack angle of RC slab-column connections equipped with shear re-inforcement is derived based on the MCFT.Then,assuming that the shear reinforcement within the perimeter of the critical section reaches the yield strength during punching failure,the critical inclined crack angle is sub-stituted into MCFT to derive the calculation method for the punching shear capacity of the slab-column connec-tions.Finally,the punching shear capacity for 62 RC slab-column connections equipped with shear reinforce-ment is calculated using the method and the American code(ACI 318-19)approach,and the influences of concrete strength,effective plate thickness,column section length,bending reinforcement ratio,and shear re-inforcement ratio on the punching shear capacity of these connections are analyzed.The results show that the calculated punching shear capacity derived from MCFT aligns well with experimental values,with an average coefficient of 0.96 and a variation of 0.20.The punching shear capacity of connections exhibits a non-linear positive correlation with the influencing factors mentioned above.The method can be used to calculate the punching shear capacity of RC slab-column connections with shear reinforcement.
