Impact of alexithymia on problematic mobile phone use:The sequence mediating effect of self-esteem and subjective well-being

Abstract
Objective:Exploring the relationship and underlying mechanisms between college students' alexithymia,self-esteem,subjective well-being,and problematic mobile phone use.Methods:A total of 514 college students were surveyed with Short Version of the Smart Phone Addiction Scale,Toronto Alexithymia Scale,Self-Esteem Scale and Subjective Well-Being Scale.Results:①Through correlation analysis we found that there were significant correlation among four factors:mobile phone addiction,alexithymia,well-being and self-esteem(r=-0.25～0.54,P＜0.01).②Self-esteem and subjective well-being separately played a mediating role in alexithymia and mobile addiction among college students;self-esteem and subjective well-being played a chain-mediated role in alexithy-mia and mobile addiction among college students.The mediation effect value was 0.04,accounting for 22.22％of the total effect.Conclusion:Alexithymia can not only directly affect college students problematic mobile phone use behav-ior,but also indirectly affect their problematic mobile phone use behavior through self-esteem and subjective well-being.关键词
