Influence of family function on college students' life satisfaction:The chain mediating effect of meaning of life and psychological resilience

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the influence of family function on college students'life satisfaction and the mediating role of meaning of life and mental toughness.Methods:A total of 635 college students were investigated by Family Function Scale(FAD),Life Satisfaction Scale(SWLS),Sense of Meaning in Life scale(C-MLQ)and Mental toughness Scale(CD-RISC).Results:①Family function,sense of life meaning,mental toughness and life satisfaction were all positively correlated.②The mediation model test showed that family function could directly positively pre-dict life satisfaction,and the direct effect size was 0.47;Mental toughness played a partial mediating role between family function and life satisfaction,with a mediating effect size of 0.35,and the chain mediating effect between sense of life meaning and mental toughness was also significant,with a mediating effect size of 0.14.Conclusion:Family function can not only directly predict the life satisfaction of college students,but also indirectly predict the life satis-faction of college students through the mediating effect of mental toughness and the chain mediating effect of life meaning and mental toughness.关键词
