Professor Zhu Ying's Experience of Treating Ulcerative Colitis Based on the Theory of"Earth Being Promoted When Meeting with Wood"

Abstract
Professor Zhu Ying emphasizes the combination of disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation in the treatment of ul-cerative colitis(UC).Commonly seen clinical manifestations of UC include syndrome of liver and spleen disharmony,syndrome of dampness-heat stagnation,syndrome of liver depression and blood deficiency,syndrome of spleen and kidney deficiency,and syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis.Professor Zhu often uses Modified Bupleurum and Peony Six Gentlemen Decoction to treat UC with dis-harmony between the liver and spleen to disperse the liver and activate the spleen.For UC with syndrome of dampness-heat stagnation,Modified Costusroot and Amomum Six Gentlemen Decoction for choosing proper Huangqin(Radix Scutellariae),Huanglian(Rhizoma Coptidis),Kushen(Radix Sophorae Flavescentis)and Pugongying(Herba Taraxaci)is used to clear dampness heat,coordinate the liver and spleen,remove dampness and stop diarrhea.For UC with syndrome of liver depression and blood deficiency,Free Wanderer Powder and Four Substances Decoction are often used for modification.For UC with syndrome of spleen and kidney deficiency,Four Gentlemen Decoction combined with Ginseng and Poria and White Atractylodes Powder plus Buguzhi(Fructus Psoraleae),Rougui(Cortex Cinna-momi),Shudihuang(Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata),Duzhong(Cortex Eucommiae),Ganjiang(Rhizoma Zingiberis),etc,are used.For UC with syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis,Professor Zhu uses the method of phased elimination of blood stasis and dred-ging collaterals.In the early stage of stasis diseases,Danshen(Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae),Chuanxiong(Rhizoma Chuanxiong),Taoren(Semen Persicae),etc.in combination with Baishao(Radix Paeoniae Alba)to achieve the effects of promoting qi and blood cir-culation,nourishing blood and harmonizing the nutrient,and relieving urgence and stopping pain.For both stagnation and stasis,Ezhu(Rhizoma Curcumae),Niuxi(Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae),Mudanpi(Cortex Moutan)are often used together to promote stagnation and unblock the meridians.For both deficiency and stasis,commonly used products with flesh and blood such as Dilong(Pheretima),Tubiechong(Eupolyphaga seu Steleophaga),etc.combined with Shanyao(Rhizoma Dioscoreae),and Danggui(Radix Angelicae Sinen-sis)can eliminate wind and dredge collaterals,remove accumulation,break blood stasis,replenish spleen qi,thus playing a role in trea-ting both symptoms and root causes.关键词
