Abstract

Aim To analyze the therapeutic effect of percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy(PTED)followed by fibrous ring suture repair for the treatment of elderly lumbar disc herniation.Methods 80 elderly patients with lumbar disc herniation were selected and randomly divided into a control group(PTED)and an observation group(PTED+fiber ring suture re-pair).The clinical efficacy,surgical related indicators,lumbar spine function,degree of pain,quality of life,daily living ability,and adverse prognosis events in these two groups were compared.Results There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of treatment effectiveness,surgical time,hospital stay,intraoperative bleeding volume,and incision length(P>0.05).The postoperative recurrence rate in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Compared with preoperative results,postoperative improvements were observed in terms of the scores of the Japanese orthopedic society's lumbar pain assessment scale,visual pain scale,Oswestry dysfunction index,modified Barthel index,and health survey brief scale between the two groups,but there was no significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion The thera-peutic effect of fiber ring suture repair after PTED on elderly lumbar disc herniation is satisfactory,and it can effectively reduce the postoperative recurrence rate of patients.
